Grease Filters - Mesh

SKU:3100

Our metal grease filters are designed to be used within commercial kitchens, food preparation & other types of cooking area. Their main function is to reduce the carry over of grease from the cooking area thus reducing the risk of contamination to other areas.

We offer three options for the frame/mesh being stainless steel, aluminium and galvanised steel.  Each filter is supplied with collapsible carry handles to make installation and removal easier, quicker and safer.

These filters can be gently cleaned, to extend their life, by rising with hot water and a mild detergent or being soaked in a mild detergent solution and rinsed in clean water.  The filters must be completely dry before being re-installed into the extraction hood or holding frame.

Grease filters are essential for kitchen safety, air quality, system efficiency, and odour control. Our grease filters are designed to be used within commercial kitchens, food preparation & cooking areas. The main function is to reduce the carry over of grease from the cooking area thus reducing the risk of contamination to other areas. Range of sizes & thicknesses to suit all types of kitchen installation.

These extraction filters consist of a rolled metal frame into which is housed a series of expanded and corrugated metal layers which is the filtration 'mesh'. The mesh creates a barrier that will capture the airborne grease particles from the air as it is extracted through the cooker hood or air extraction panels.

The frames, filter mesh and collapsible handles are all made from stainless steel which give a strong, attractive filter that is easy to clean.

Protect your kitchen:

- Fire Safety
Grease from cooking can accumulate in the ventilation ducts, and because grease is highly flammable, this buildup increases the risk of kitchen fires. Grease filters trap these particles before they enter the ventilation system, reducing fire hazards.

- Improved Air Quality
Grease filters help to capture grease, smoke, and other airborne particles generated during cooking. This prevents them from circulating through the kitchen and home, helping to maintain cleaner, healthier air.

- Prevents Duct Contamination
Without grease filters, greasy particles would enter the ventilation ducts and accumulate over time, leading to clogged ducts. This can reduce the efficiency of the ventilation system and make it harder to clean.

- Prolongs Ventilation System Lifespan
Grease filters protect the internal components of the ventilation system, like the fan and motor, from grease build up. This helps ensure the longevity of the equipment and reduces the need for frequent maintenance or replacement.

- Reduces Odours
Cooking grease and smoke can create lingering odours in the kitchen. Grease filters help reduce these odours by trapping particles before they escape into the rest of the house.

- Easier Cleaning
It's much easier to clean or replace a grease filter than to clean the entire ventilation system. Filters help reduce the amount of cleaning needed by capturing the grease before it can spread.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I clean these filters?
Yes, you can wash all of the grease filters regardless of their construction. For the best results the filters should be sprayed with a mild detergent and left for a short while for the detergent to soften and break-down the captured grease. The filters can then be rinsed with warm/hot water and the mesh can be gently brushed. The filters should be allowed to completely dry before being installed. To aid with this many of our filters have drain holes within their frames.

Which is the best construction type and which one should I use?
Obviously the stainless steel frame and mesh is the best option as it will not only last longer than the other two but also looks better when installed so if you have a customer facing kitchen then this could be a nice option for you.
However, as with most things, the best option does have the highest price. All of the options offer the same performance so the choice is really a matter of personal preference based upon price and appearance.

Can I have panels without handles?
We can make the grease filters without handles but this is not our standard construction so there will be a slight delay of 2-3 weeks as they are classed as a special build. If you want to purchase frames without the handles then you just need to contact us and we will confirm the unit price and delivery time.

How do I know which thickness of panel I should have?
If you are replacing an existing panel then you are probably best to stick with the overall dimensions of the original as you will be sure that the replacement will fit the hood or frame and that the airflow will be correct. If you haven't got the original filter or are making a hood or extraction framework then you are best to look at the airflow rating of the different panels which you will see in the Product Specification. You may need to know the size or airflow rating of your extraction fan.
